Businesses

“It is important to realize that our small businesses are the thread that make up the unique tapestry that is our community.”
Rhonda S. Moore, Executive Director, Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce

As the Governor issued nonessential business shutdowns during the COVID-19 Pandemic, businesses continue to be impacted with additional restrictions, conditions and provisions and many have the inability to pay for regular expenses, while incurring additional and new expenses as they prepared to safely reopen and comply with current standards. Businesses are still dealing with the new restrictions, conditions and provisions today in order to operate. Businesses need relief.

These Mifflin County COVID-19 Relief Grant Funds are being made available to assist in COVID-19 related shutdown expenses. They are intended to aid businesses with less than 100 employees, but will be focused initially on smaller businesses. Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation, Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Lewistown Inc. are coordinating the application process for businesses and non-profits so that loss of revenue and shutdown expenses, as well as overall business health, can be dealt with fairly. The grant funds will initially target those that have not already been assisted, or have been partially assisted by PPP, EIDL, CDFI, or any other means in compliance with the Stafford Disaster Relief and CARES Act.
